EASTER SUNDAY Year B
Alleluia! The Lord is Risen, alleluia!
Today, we joyfully declare that Christ is Risen. Jesus is Lord. He suffered, died for our sins, and by his blood has made us sons and daughters of God, by destroying our death. Having offered his body so that death could have its full course, he overpowered death and cancelled our debt of death. On the cross, he disarmed the powers and authorities and triumphed over them (Col 2:14-16).
In rising from the dead, Jesus broke our prison gates of sin (Psalm 107:16) and threw wide open the heaven’s gate to eternal life. In Adam, all died. But in Christ, all shall be made alive (1 Cor 15:22). Jesus’ resurrection in today’s Gospel (John 20:1-9) announces our Resurrection when we shall be raised and our bodies transformed into his glorious body.
Hence, we are resurrection children called to proclaim that Christ is Risen (Acts10:34,37-43,5:32) and that in him we are brought back to life (Colossians 3:1-4). Our hearts are now set on heaven where Jesus is seated in glory (Col 3:1-4) so that our lives may be guided by the heavenly vision. Therefore, we now live by faith in the son of God who loved us and gave himself for us. (Gal 2:20).”
Alleluia, Christ is Risen! May we now keep Jesus alive in our personal lives. The Resurrection is indeed our Hope.
Happy Easter.
