Takehomenews Sunday 8 October 2023

Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A

We are Stewards of God’s Grace in Our lives. We often betray the grace upon our lives like the unfruitful vineyard and ungrateful tenants in this Sunday’s readings. But then, God remains persistent in his love for us.

The parable of the kingdom about a landowner who planted a vineyard and leased it to tenants who then killed his only son, tells our story. God is the landowner, the owner of our lives whose Son, Jesus was Killed. God has entrusted us with our lives and invites us to bear the fruits of salvation.

To bear these fruits, I am to guard my heart against ingratitude, and greed and then fill it with everything true and pure as the second reading (Phil 4:6-9) tells us. In that way, we may avoid betraying ourselves and God, who in trust has given us everything we have.

As stewards of many graces of God, with grateful hearts, we are to bear fruits of goodness, remembering from whom we have received all and to whom all is due. O Lord, help us by your grace. Amen

Happy Sunday. Fr Chinedu
